Project Attributes Logo

The Problem: Avid Creative needed a rebrand. It was time for a facelift, as the old logo was becoming dated.
If you are already on this site you know that Avid Creative is a design studio, which makes it very important to have a good logo and branding in general. As a sole proprietor, I became my own client for two weeks. It was a little harder than one might think, as you tend to second guess your decisions. There was a lot of tweaking of the lettering, kerning and making sure their was proper spacing. Not to mention trying to find a beautiful colour palette that I wouldn’t get bored of.

This project was to focus on branding for an independent hair specialist. The project consisted of a logo, a business card and rack card.
Having a large female client base the brand was made to have a feminine flare but still giving a sophisticated and slightly masculine with the use of black.
There was restrictions on the budget although the client wanted the rack card that would to stand out. So I came up with a simple and cost effective way to make the card unique. Having two small cuts onto the card and placing a bobby-pin manually to make it look as thought the bobby-pin is holding the stylized image of hair making the rack card an economical and unique.
The business card followed the same brand consistency.

A friend on mine wanted a branding and business card for her significant other. She wanted something that would stand out and get noticed. I sketched out a few options and given this one stood out because it was an ambigram — meaning the logo could be read both ways. The concept behind it was that in the renovation industry things can be perceived differently depending on the customer, reflecting this in the logo.
